The Fourth Annual DC Tap Festival Weekend March 30, 31 & April 1st, 2012 is extremely proud to honor our remarkable Congresswoman the Honorable Eleanor Holmes Norton, one of America’s 100 most influential women and the District of Columbia’s “Warrior on The Hill” as this year's DC Tap Festival Honoree.
Congresswoman, your courage, compassion, commitment and leadershipis a constant source of inspiration to us. We first met you while visiting the Honorable Cardiss Collins, Minority Leader of Government and Reform Oversight Committee. Our father was quick to point you out and tell us about some of your incredible accomplishments. He told us something then that we found to be true about you, you were a woman of great principle, a champion in the civil rights movement, but never too busy to offer support to your constituents and that if we ever needed yoursupport for a worthy cause you would be there for us.
We want to thank you for recognizing Chloe and Maud Productions, and the 3rd Annual DC Tap Festival in the Congressional Record last year. Weare so thankful that you support our efforts to make the District of Columbia a global center for the rich American art form: tap dance. Youhave shown us what it takes to be successful in life. We share the “Fire in My Soul”.
· We honor you for your leadership and sacrifices in the strugglefor universal human and civil rights and for holding the first cases in the country on discrimination against women during yourtenure on New York City Human Rights Commission.
· We honor you as the first woman to Chair the US Equal Opportunity Commission,
· We honor you for working to bring full congressional representation to the District of Columbia
· We honor you for providing up to $10,000 scholarships for DC High school graduates to attend any public college or University
We honor and respect you as our role model and a role model for all young women and men in the District of Columbia and globally.
Sincerely,
Chloe & Maud Arnold
